Who is responsible
I Love Art is operated by Seçkin Alp Kargı, trading as Folding Papers. This policy explains our handling of personal information in the I Love Art mobile app and when you contact us about it. We are responsible for deciding how that information is used. Contact hello@foldingpapers.com with privacy questions or requests.
Some features, including accounts and Community, may not be available in every release. The descriptions below apply when you use the relevant feature; they do not mean that an unavailable feature has been enabled.
Your device, your Journal
Journal writing, private ratings, saved works, personal collections, downloaded artwork images and preferences are kept on your device. We do not automatically upload your private Journal or turn it into a Community review. Signing in or buying Premium does not enable Journal cloud sync.
If you deliberately share or export something, the recipient or service you choose receives that copy. Your operating system may also include local app data in a device backup, depending on your settings. Removing the app can remove local data; copies in device backups are controlled through your operating system.
Optional account information
When account access is available and you register or sign in, Supabase processes your email address, authentication credentials, account identifier and authentication events to provide and secure your account. A session is stored on your device so you can stay signed in. Verification and recovery emails use the configured authentication email-delivery service.
Folding Papers uses shared sign-in infrastructure, but I Love Art requests only Art membership. Signing in does not automatically enrol you in another Folding Papers product or expose its product data to I Love Art.
Account emails and email measurement
Brevo delivers account verification and password-recovery emails. It processes your email address and delivery events, and records opens and link clicks associated with your address to measure email performance. Transactional email logs are configured to be retained for one month; email previews are not stored in Brevo. This measurement is not used for cross-company targeted advertising.
What you choose to publish
When Community is available, Supabase stores the profile details, selected profile photo, favourite artwork references, reviews, lists, follows, follow requests, blocks and reports you submit. Profile details can include a display name, handle, biography, city and website.
Public content can be visible without signing in. A private profile restricts its reviews, lists and favourites to approved followers, subject to each item’s visibility. Its profile details, including name, handle and photo, remain discoverable. Private does not mean anonymous. Do not publish information you do not want the permitted audience to see.
Reports are available to their author and authorised Art moderators. Moderators can inspect the reported material, including otherwise private content, to investigate safety issues. Moderation decisions and audit records are kept separately from the public feed.
Subscriptions and purchase-screen activity
Apple handles iOS payments. RevenueCat processes purchase history, store transactions, products, subscription status and an app-user identifier so we can validate purchases, restore access and understand subscription performance. It also receives an event when the configured Premium purchase screen is viewed.
Before sign-in, RevenueCat can use an anonymous app-user identifier. After verified sign-in, the app can associate subscription access with your account identifier. We do not send your Journal writing to RevenueCat or Apple. The app does not receive your full payment-card number.
Images, connections and support
Downloading an artwork or opening a page sends ordinary connection information, such as an IP address, request details and device or browser information, to its hosting provider. Supabase hosts Art media and connected account data; Cloudflare delivers this website. External museum and source websites have their own privacy practices.
If you email support, we receive your email address, message and any attachments you choose to send. We use them to respond, investigate problems and handle requests. Please do not send passwords, verification codes, full payment-card details or private Journal entries unless you deliberately choose to share relevant writing.
We do not sell your personal information or use the app to track you across other companies’ apps for targeted advertising. Subscription reporting is distinct from advertising tracking.
Permissions you control
Daily reminders are scheduled on your device after notification permission is granted. You can change them in the app and in device Settings. Choosing a profile photo uses the system image picker; the chosen image is resized before upload. This is not permission to upload your whole photo library.
The separate Premium Save to Photos / Gallery action asks for add-only photo library access where the operating system requires permission. It saves the artwork you choose without reading or uploading your photo library. The app temporarily downloads the artwork for this action and removes its temporary copy afterwards. Your operating system may sync or back up the saved image according to your photo-library settings.
You can decline photo access or change it in device Settings. In-app offline image storage does not require photo-library access and remains free. Ending Premium or deleting the app does not delete images already saved to Photos / Gallery; manage those copies in your photo app.
Widgets and supported companion-device transfers use artwork information for the feature you enable. They do not publish your private Journal. You can manage these features and permissions in the app or operating-system settings.
Why we process information
We use account and purchase information to provide the service you request, support to answer you, and security or moderation records to protect people and the service. Where a legal basis is required, these purposes rely on performing our agreement with you, legitimate interests in operating a secure service and resolving problems, applicable legal obligations, or consent where required. You can withdraw optional permissions; this does not undo processing that already took place lawfully.
We share information with service providers needed for these functions, with the audience you select for published content, or when necessary to comply with legal obligations or protect rights and safety. Service providers may process information outside your country. Contact us for information about the providers and transfer safeguards relevant to your data.
Retention, export and deletion
Local information remains until you remove it or the operating system clears it. Connected account and Community information is retained while needed to operate those features. Support correspondence, transaction records and safety records may be retained as necessary to resolve the issue, prevent abuse, meet legal duties or handle a dispute. Retention depends on the purpose and applicable obligations; no fixed instant-erasure period is promised for provider logs or backups.
Where Community is available, Profile → Privacy offers Export Community data and Delete my Community profile. Export uses the device share sheet and does not include the private Journal. Confirmed deletion removes the Art profile, published reviews, lists and follow data and deactivates Art membership. Limited safety-report identifiers can remain for moderation; departing reporters’ details are anonymised.
Removed profile photos are queued for server cleanup. Already issued image links can remain usable for up to five minutes. Deleted information may remain in restricted service backups until those backups expire.
Community profile deletion does not erase the shared sign-in identity, another product’s data, local Journal or collections, or store purchase records. It does not cancel a subscription. For requests concerning your shared sign-in identity or other retained personal information, contact us so the relevant account and scope can be verified.
Delete your Art account
In versions offering account access, Settings → Account → Delete my Art account is separate from Community-profile deletion. Re-enter your password, type DELETE MY ART ACCOUNT and confirm. Community does not need to be enabled. An accepted request removes Art membership and published content, including associated Art safety-report content, and queues profile-photo and RevenueCat customer cleanup.
The app shows a pending request until background cleanup finishes. You can check its status on the same device after signing out or reopening the app. A random receipt permits a status-only check for 90 days; it contains no account content. The private job retains the account identifier while cleanup is pending. An error is not confirmation of deletion.
After cleanup, we delete the shared sign-in identity if no other product needs it. Otherwise we preserve that identity and other-product data, with a minimal deletion record to prevent old sessions from reopening Art. That guard remains while the shared identity exists. Local Journal and collections stay on your device, and store subscriptions are not cancelled. Provider logs, legally required transaction records and restricted backups have separate retention.
Your privacy choices and rights
Depending on the law that applies to you, you may request access, correction, deletion or a portable copy of your personal information, restrict or object to certain processing, and withdraw consent. Email hello@foldingpapers.com; we may ask for proportionate information to verify ownership and will explain any applicable exception. You can also raise a concern with your local data-protection authority.
We do not ask children to provide personal information to browse art. If you believe a child has provided personal information without the permission required by applicable law, contact us so we can investigate and address it.
Updates and contact
We update this policy when our practices change and show the revision date above. Material changes will be communicated as required. Privacy enquiries go to hello@foldingpapers.com, for the attention of Seçkin Alp Kargı.
